Ordinary

Research proposal is easy to do but hard to justify. Troublesome and time consuming! I have a love-hate relationship with academic world. They are interesting, they are boring. Like I said before, what's in our head is only 25% true in real situation. For example we thought Coke is bad for our health because it contains zero calorie, FYI Coke in our country is full of sugar thus making it high calorie beverage. We're not yet use Saccharin (artificial sweetener) commercially here in Malaysia. Wait, I think I hate this topic.

Today I went to my college mini gym, more than 12 calories burnt. Hey this is my first time, will spend more time in there. I want to get rid of the fats on my thigh, I want to get rid of my pimples, I want to get rid of my glasses, I want to get rid of my dull head scarfs. Temporal desire I think.

Watched What A Girl Wants today. Pretty ordinary, maybe they are pioneer in suddenly-become-royal plot, so I wasn't much excited to see her going through make over.

Must Change!

Surrounded by apathetic attitude people have is suffocating especially when I'm struggling to do constant self-improvement for future betterment. I am the leader of tomorrow, or I should at least think of that way. I admit being apathy towards many things, not intending to say that I filtered too much but I honestly don't know who are the Prime Ministers of Singapore beside Lee Kuan Yew. The only reason I knew Lee Hsien Loong is the current Prime Minister and is Lee Kuan Yew's eldest son was through Discovery Channel, by accident! Not to mention Goh Chok Tong, who is that guy? You all must be wondering too *addressing our "Generasi Hebat"*.

Facing people apathy daily is tempting enough to turn me into one, unavoidable in my case easily influenced by senior collegue or worst close friends. It's a norm not to be a registered voter, it's a norm not knowing anything about Malaysia's 2010 Budget and it's a norm to not care about 1% (some cases 3%) administration free PTPTN is charging us, the borrowers monthly. This is a local example, I doubt many people of my age know how nations replaced empires and come to who we are today. For those who knew a lot of things inside out, I hope to become one of you.

For this coming new year, fresh start for all of us, I wish to become a person with high competency and integrity.

Cinema

Watched these in GSC Mid Valley;

1) Storm Warriors
2) Ninja Assassins
3) Twilight New Moon

Taking pictures

Amateurish way to photograph a piece of jewellery. In case you don't know, that's me.

I'm in love with my dad's D300. Captures even the tiniest detail like finger prints. By the way, the laptop above is my old one, stopped responding to me a month ago.

New Laptop

1st time logging in using a brand new laptop my dad bought for me just yesterday! In fact few hours ago! Thank you so much Papi. How can I ever repay you! Muax

More Movies

Yup, movie week this week. Watched Surrogates (2009) and Corpse Bride (2005).

What's a surrogate? Never heard of the term before. It's substitute or replacement I googled. So this movie is about robotic surrogates human been using for convenience, safety and physically perfect body they desire. Picture this, you pick a better looking robot, sit at home and control it to replace yourself, to live your life. So you're safe at home, less discrimination in the society and able to work even if you're old/disabled. Problem arises when two persons murdered when their surrogates being attacked while in use. How can this possibly happen?

I like this movie, the idea and the good looking society. The plot wasn't that interesting or it's just me. And yeah I'm bad at writing synopsis and review.

This one has long been in the computer. Finally watched it with my sister. Quick summary, a guy Victor was about to marry Victoria but accidentally proposed to Emily, the corpse bride after he went into the wood to rehearse his wedding vows. I love this movie, it's simple, nice scripted, amusing and oh I can feel the love. I adore Emily's personality and kind heart.

p/s: Postman where are you? You're delaying my beading project!

Random

8:07 AM and I'm fully awake God knows why. I haven't sleep yet.

Oh another movie, Drag Me to Hell yesterday fun movie but not my favourite. My brother insisted me to watch it so I gladly sat to see what it was about. A young woman was cursed and did all she could to save herself in midst of scary shadows and the old woman who cursed her. Some fresh ideas but mostly predictable.

My mom went to Kuala Lumpur for a meeting, she's coming back on Monday for a meeting in Kota Kinabalu. Need to fetch and send her to a hotel here. I suddenly missed her.

This entry is random. Nothing particular in mind. Often thought of writing something scholarly sound, informative packed with jargon words but never did. Maybe sometime later. Not yet matured at 22.

Movie Marathon

I did a movie marathon: Cidade de Deus ak.a. City of God (2002), Untraceable (2008) and Watchmen (2009) and now is 7:48 AM.

Benny in City of God
He's not the leading actor but I love him to bits. The movie is very interesting from the start till the end. One of my list of recommendation. Good movie really. It's based on a true story happened around 1960's in the slums of Rio De Janeiro.

(Image from http://cinema.terra.com.br)

This one is from Untraceable. Apart from cool things FBI did in this movie, I find it pretty ordinary but it didn't get boring like in the third movie I watched though. It's about a website untraceable even to the FBI 's cybercrime division. The feature of the website is live streaming killing on the internet. The higher the viewer, the faster the killing goes.

Well, Watchmen duration is nearly 3 hours! No wonder I became tired and bored that I don't care if they all died. My dad came sit watching with me and there it was, sex scene one after another. Why do movies have to have scenes like that, a brief one is okay but...well my dad got up and commented what kind of movie is this. He might as well pointing out cartoon-like superheroes dressed up ridiculously. Amazingly I waited and my dad too sat back then BOOM the great ending. All the pieces (which I thought were all stupid) came together, worth my 3 hours watching it.

Now, my bucket list no.5 is growing slowly but surely. By the way, I watched The Convenant (2006) on the AXN. Caleb is gorgeous I must say.

p/s:

Caviar

I love fish roes (eggs). Popping saltiness inside the mouth to me is delicious (when eating sushi). But I love them fried too. Regardless of size, type of fish blah3 they all taste so good.

I suddenly went curious over Caviar, known it to be super expensive and yummy delicacy but never really thought about why it worth gold. So I read a little.

The most pricey and the best one comes from a fish species called beluga sturgeon (Sturgeon is black caviar the other one is red caviar from Salmon). They are found in Caspian Sea, between Russia and Iran. The older the fish, the more expensive it becomes for its rarity. So now we know why it's a luxury food.

Image from http://www.buybelugacaviar.co.uk. It says there "The most expensive and rare caviar in the world is Iranian almas caviar that is produced by the albino beluga sturgeon at an age only of 60-100 years old."

Price for Iranian Beluga Caviar (not the albino, the normal one):
50g tin £585.00 or around RM3271 *jaw drops*

Now there's cheap version of caviar in tubes and small jars. They even made it into cosmetic products. I prefer to eat them just so you know. People said caviar is one food you shouldn't miss before you die. I'll think about it.

p/s: I love chewy food like Nata de Coco and Sticky Corn (Heh I mean Jagung Pulut)

Post Panic Attack

Nope, it's not H1N1 thank God.

Settled few things so now is post panic attack.

  1. Called Bajet Mini to reconfirm that I get the sponsor(since I was paranoid my acceptance letter missing), yes it's totally confirmed
  2. Called Bendahari to confirm total payment upon registration, it's RM27 for medical fee
  3. Called 11th College to reconfirm my stay, confirmed but likely to get unwanted room
  4. Finally ordered new batch of Swarovski and stuff, paid RM130 (this time I didn't owe anybody)
So tomorrow need to go Pejabat Pendaftaran, my new I/C is ready. Paid RM10 to replace it because whatever chip inside the old one didn't function.

Post panic attack needs to sleep, now.

p/s: weird sensation to be back behind the wheel though it's only been a week

Pinawantai

Went to Pinawantai, Matunggong Kudat and just got back yesterday. Stayed overnight at my dad's house he rented because he is a teacher there (for a few months now). The place is nice but I've decided I cannot live in a village without TV.

Never occurred to me that today is the remaining 14 days before I depart to Kuala Lumpur.

OH MY GOD. I haven't done anything yet.

My dad is sick, I am too. We fear it is H1n1...without obvious symptoms?

p/s: panic attack

Learn As I Go

Got myself a new hobby, my dad's D300 camera.

The only basic thing I know from university days is about histogram and image quality.

p/s: I made a blog shop. Gimp, ImageShack and html coding are fun!

Mumbai Attack

Taj Mahal Hotel Mumbai (Image from Javno.com)

Discovery channel showed a story on Mumbai attack. Few months ago my brother brought home a downloaded version of this unfortunate event (don't remember who produced it). I am utterly speechless why isn't there any mention on the Turkish couple whom are spared because they're Muslims in the Discovery's version. They barely mention they are Turkish. By the way, both husband and wife are the survivors in the Taj Mahal Hotel Mumbai Attack.

I was waiting for them to unfold the event on how they recite a few lines in the Quran and at one point the terrorists acknowledge them as brothers and so kept them alive.

They want to fit the whole event in one slot of show time therefore cut the interview short? They decided if-you're-Muslims-you're-save isn't appropriate for public audience?

Well at least tell us why the couple wasn't shot dead like others with them. It leads to another whole idea when the wife described how she drew Pashmina over her head and shoulders to act as an innocent Muslim lady. I mean she was and is a Muslim.

Had Aladdin called me, I wouldn't splurt (What? Another urban dictionary again?) it all here. He don't even bother to use his house phone?

p/s: prayers to all the Mumbai victims

School Holiday

Body clock went off. School holiday has just started. I don't get children screaming downstairs to send them to school. This is bad.

p/s: Clueless on when's school holiday. Only semester breaks worth noting back then

Youtubing

Youtubing last night, to learn some basic French.

Je suis Mizlite
Qui es tu?
Comment ça va?
ça va bien merci

Trying to improvise The Pink Panther 2, Madeline animated series and Celine in this movie;

Jesse and Celine. Before Sunset (IMDb). Favourite.

Remember previous entry about Aladdin neglecting me? Called him last night too, we're breaking up. Time stopped so thought youtubing might be a great idea.

Stumbled upon a romantic comedy movie called A Lot Like Love. Love this scene;

Oliver kissing Emily in A Lot Like Love (IMDb)

Aladdin was my living movie guide. He practically seen all the movies I watched or going to watch. There were plenty of times he skipped lectures to catch some movies. Never occurred to me then that movie is the window to the world.

Anyway, to watch as many movies as possible is one of my bucket list before turning 25.

Wish me luck

Movie Night

Went to watch 2012 with sister and brother. Older brother seen it so he watch Poker King. Started at 9.00 p.m. so we hang around a bit and guess what I bought;

Beads case. RM4.99. Inomata brand from Japan. Impulse buying.

Before

After

Amateur

Oh, about the movie, I really love it (apart from John Cusack in it, like him since high school). Worth every penny from my brother's wallet. Enjoyed it till the last, recommended to all. This isn't a review so bye.

Craft

I'm confused. What's the difference between rondelles those two suppliers are selling? Both are silver plated right? One with RM25 for a packet of 50 rondelles and the other is RM27 for 100. I go for quality but I save a lot by getting it cheaper...if it's of the same quality.

Asked the latter she said all Rhinestone Rondelle Beads are the same. I need hard facts. Oh this is tough decision.

Rondelles (Took this from http://beadshop.esmartbiz.com/)

Another dilemma is should I buy Fimo (a polymer clay brand)? Thinking of experimenting with English Rose. Since I practiced with salt-flour dough for a while, I want the real thing so I can bake them solid.

Fimo Clay (http://www.jillybeans-cake-toppers.com/)

It will be easier if I have money.

In Search of Freshwater Pearls

My journey officially ended.

I found a cost effective lot! Yay!

To School

Sending my younger sister and brother to school, 10 minutes late from usual;

Silence for 5 minutes

Me: Eh, why there's no traffic jam today?

*Silence*

Me: Hah Di, why the traffic is not jam today? *smacking my brother*

*Silence*

Me: Hah Ka, no traffic jam today? *turning to my sister*

*Silence*

Me: ...

*David Archuleta song*

Sister: Is that Mix FM???

Brother: Yes, I won!!!

They were playing who says a word first. Kurang asam lah

p/s: Got my scholarship yesterday *happy*

Went to City Mall

I call this, guilty blouse

How can I not buy this blouse after seeing it lying helplessly on a rack? How can I not buy it?

Some time ago, my Aladdin gave me this bracelet. He's having exam this month, he's totally neglecting me. How can I not buy that blouse for my own personal retail therapy?

This bracelet changes colour from purple to blue to crystal clear, seriously

p/s: my sister thinks the blouse is for old people. Am I old?

A New You

There's this particular mag dozen times a year, for years, been in my house.

I grew up with it though at first only reading funny parts for I couldn't comprehend other sections.

Even Smashits, Lime, Galaxy and Top of the Pop cannot beat this mag in my changing life phases.

Reader's Digest, you changed your editor, again!

Read before I sleep

Business

Beading tools

Started my mini Swarovski crystal bracelet on the 25th of October 2009, after a week of intensive research. But I paused for weeks because of the mixture feeling of anxiousness, worries, fear, negative thoughts and frustration built inside. Even my logic was in question when I made this technical error whilst handling the wire. I have a debt of RM300 to be cleared off! OMG the pressure!

Read somewhere: DUIT is Doa Usaha Istiqamah Tawakal. Interesting.

A couple of weeks back, I even thought of considering other business opportunity. Now with a little bit of confidence, I started all over again, this time with new insight of the potential market and erasure of limitation I once put in front of me.

I must bring the business theory forward or else I'd be wasting my time in lecture halls. With inadequate CSS knowledge learned in Matriculation College, I struggle my way to produce a very simple blog shop. I hate adverts so I don't place any in my online gallery for now.

Funny how what's in our head only 25% true in reality. So trial and error is the answer. I'll be making lost I know it's coming.

BRING IT ON!

Ram Bomjon The Buddha Boy

Watched Discovery Channel last night. The Boy With Divine Powers. Learn about this "Buddha Boy", a young boy who is said to meditate without water and food for days. I have huge respect for him. Oh, his name is Ram Bomjon a.k.a Palden Dorje originated from Ratnapuri village Nepal. Wikipedia did mention he will appears from 18th - 23rd of November 2009 in Gadhi Mai (don't know where). He was last saw in 2008 so I can't wait to hear news about him despite all the controversies.

Ram Bomjon. Don't you find him hot?

He reminds me of Thích Quảng Đức, a Vietnamese monk who burned himself to death to protest against persecution of Buddhists by the Ngô Đình Diệm administration in Saigon (nothing to do with Ram Bomjon).

Thích Quảng Đức (image from masiltour.com)

I read about him few months back. It was quite disturbing at first. You should read more on him.

p/s: I don't remember from where I took Ram's picture. Sorry

Motivational Song

When I am down and out, I love listening to these;

Keep Holding On (Avril Lavigne)

The Climb (Miley Cyrus)

I'll Make A Man Out of You (Mulan OST)

Aladdin

I think my boyfriend looks a bit like Aladdin...

Aaron Aziz

At first I was like, Aaron Aziz WHO? Never heard of him before as I was too occupied with things other than TV. And so, finally get to catch a glimpse of his so-claimed machoness in Cinta Lelong (15 minutes before the drama ends) and Kasih Tercipta (a scene when Dee came over to his work place to talk about Revlon photo shoot or something - ah well whatever). These 20 minutes of watching him putting up an act legally converted me into "OMG AARON AZIZ IS THE SEXIEST MAN IN MALAYSIA".

Believe me, he was born with remarkably good look that he still appears cool handsome guy in every revolting role attempt. He can never seen ugly even if he tries to! This is insane!

Aaron Aziz & his beautiful wife Diyana
(taken from his blog in which he took it from ManggaOnline. Hehe)

p/s: being unjust to my baby Afgan Syah Reza - haven't post anything about him yet

Update: He actually is a Singaporean. Oh he can sing too! He is officially a heartthrob!

Syarikat Kamal

Syarikat Kamal Penjual Barangan Runcit dan Buku Perubatan is the name of a most sought medical and dental bookstore in Kuala Lumpur (so I heard). Located just in front of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) in Jalan Pahang, you can easily go there by means of public transportation;

1) Monorail
2) Bus

1) Monorail
Just hop into a monorail at any station and stop at Chow Kit station. As soon as you come down from the escalator, walk to your left or try to ask people where HKL is. You'll have to pass Grand Season Hotel and a few shop lots before you reach the bookstore. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes walk. Easiest landmark (not really a landmark) is an overhead bridge in which it is right in front of a shop lot where Syarikat Kamal and a 7Eleven are.

2) Bus
RapidKL bus heading towards Titiwangsa (B101) is the one you should get into. You can get one of these buses from KL Sentral bus terminal or any other bus stops along its route (check out the RapidKL website). Ask the driver to stops in front of HKL. You know you're already there when you see the store signage that reads Syarikat Kamal in blue and white. To return back, cross the road and you'll see a bus stop there, wait for B101 bus.

The bookstore is a combination of a grocery shop and a vast amount of medical books (joint venture? Hehe). I saw a book or two selling at much cheaper price without its hardcover skin. Who cares about its skin anyway. I am not sure of why this bookstore becomes well known amongst medical students (minus the one studying in UKM nearby). What I am so sure about is how knowledgeable the workers are (or maybe he is the manager?) They know in depth about why some books are better than the other. They even remember which are the popular choices and which university uses it?! Haha. Seriously they ask where are you from and which year are you in and recommend book other students are normally buying. Well, different university has different syllabus and believe me they don't ask the students to buy particular textbooks, you need to find yourself which is best suits your course.

Don't worry if they are out of stock because they were pretty pissed off when I didn't buy the books I asked them to get (8 - 10 books) and I only intend to reserve them and so they said the book will always be there while putting back the books. By the way, the store is only open till 1 p.m. on Sunday. You'll get a discount if you buy them large. So good luck!

P/S: I am no medical student whatsoever

Bus to Puncak Perdana from KL

A stranger in Shah Alam, know nothing until I spent few days being a squarter in UiTM Puncak Perdana campus. Main concern then was public transportation, so here are some directions for whomever feel like a stranger there too. Hehe. Those cannot tolerate detailed description just read whatever necessary.

Take bus no. U80 (Pasar Seni - Shah Alam Section 2) at Pasar Seni. Find a bus terminal next to Pasar Seni LRT, you have to walk a little bit further in (scary looking area) until you see a bunch of RapidKL buses and people queuing. NOT at the bus stations alongside the main road where you can see Central Market and Pos Malaysia. If you step off from Pasar Seni LRT escalator, walk to your right. When you enter the scary looking area, on your left is buses for other area so go to your right and you'll see queue lane for several buses, of course go for U80 Section 2 Shah Alam. The fare is RM2. Pretty crowded when people get back from work and you might have to stand whole one hour to Shah Alam but better still than taking the bus from these places along its route (will only describe the one I experience);

Monorail Brickfield, near KL Sentral. There isn't obvious stand point, wait for the bus where you see most people are waiting and it is in front of shop lots same row with Monorail ticket counter NOT on the other side. If you are actually inside KL Sentral building, you have to walk across (go down to ground floor at the bus station, find your way to walk to the busy area totally opposite KL Sentral about 5 minutes walk).

Universiti LRT Station. Don't wait at the main bus station where you can see RapidKL to University Malaya (T632) or Mid Valley (T631) instead walk to the other side of the building. If you step off the station's stairs go to your left you'll see a bus stand at the walk side of the main road. Wait for U80. Usually not stopping during high peak hour because it will already be packed.

For other alternatives, check out this url:
http://www.rapidkl.com.my/network/bus/busroutes?view=routedetails&routenum=U80

Make sure you have exact amount of money because the system is that you put money inside a metal box besides the bus driver and receive a printed ticket from him.Depending on the traffic, you will arrive at Section 2 Shah Alam approximately an hour or less. For those wanting to go Kompleks PKNS, Plaza Alam Sentral and SACC Mall can get off the bus when you see a lot of people getting off the bus but don't confuse it with other stops. Better be safe ask the driver or other passenger.

You'll know you finally arrive at Section 2 Shah Alam when you see a KFC building and a big eating place beside it (Medan Selera) on your right. Few shop lots like 7Eleven available in that area. Cross the road to a bus stop and from there buses back to KL and to Puncak Perdana parked there.

The bus to Puncak Perdana is T605 or just ask the driver. Ticket price is RM1. Approximately 30 minutes before reaching the UiTM campus. Last bus from Section 2 to Puncak Perdana is around 10.30 p.m. but there is also 10 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. bus. Don't risk it because sometimes the buses are unavailable. Just ask any RapidKL pakcik there when is the last bus if you wish to grab a bite at the eatery place across the road.

By the way, on your way back to Pasar Seni, you can stop at Masjid Ar-Rahman University Malaya to save time if you wish to go to Mid Valley. To know if you are about to approach Masjid Ar-Rahman, look for Menara TM because the building is so near. About 20 minutes after leaving Section 2 Shah Alam, the bus will turn to left after a straight highway. The stop for Masjid Ar-Rahman is immediately after the bus turn left. Find your way to walk to Universiti LRT Station (facing the road, it is on your right).

For God sake ask for direction from local people. It is far easier you know. I did that *wink*
